FOUNDER AND EDITOR
Tim Pucci
Tim Pucci is the founder and editor of The Patrol Standard and a Texas peace officer who holds a Master Peace Officer certification. A police lieutenant with approximately 30 years of law-enforcement experience, he has served as a supervisor since 2005 and earned promotion through a competitive civil-service merit process that included assessment-center evaluations.
During his career, Tim has supervised and managed hundreds of sworn officers and civilian personnel. His assignments have included frontline supervision, incident command, administrative leadership, and project management. He has written numerous departmental policies and managed his agency’s law-enforcement best-practices program, helping translate legal requirements and professional standards into practical agency operations.
Tim has also managed the deployment of major law-enforcement technology projects supporting intelligence-led policing. These initiatives strengthened his agency’s ability to prevent, detect, investigate, and respond to crime while improving information sharing and operational effectiveness.
His article, Harnessing Technology as Force Multipliers Is the Future of Law Enforcement, was published in the Winter 2025 issue of FBI-LEEDA Insighter.
Through The Patrol Standard, Tim draws upon his experience in patrol, supervision, leadership, policy development, technology, and professional writing to provide practical guidance for working officers and supervisors.

- Evidence before opinion. Training draws on official sources and clearly identifies its references.
- Practical application. Readers should leave with something useful to apply, discuss, or improve.
- Clear distinctions. Facts, analysis, actual incidents, and hypothetical scenarios must be distinguishable. Actual events identify when and where they happened.
- Complete, accurate writing. Reports should explain observations, decisions, and actions without adding unsupported facts.
- Leadership through service. Mentoring, accountability, ethical judgment, and developing people are permanent parts of the publication.
